A Letter to my One Year Old

My beautiful George,

I can’t quite believe that you have already been in our lives for a whole year; it seems like not that long ago you were a squishy little newborn that depended so heavily on me for everything (not that I minded). Now, although you still need me, you’re growing up to become so much more independent and turning into your own little person.

Although I may get stressed and sad at times, know that I always love you and am so proud of who you’re becoming. I love being your mummy, through the high points and the low ones too – it is easily the best thing I have ever done.

I love seeing your happy face when I come to get you out of your cot in the morning. I love when you have cuddles with me on the sofa in the morning. I love your cheeky smile. I love the kisses I get before you go to bed. I love reading you a bed time story. There are so many things I love about being your mum that I couldn’t possibly name them all…

I hope that you always find happiness in things. I hope that you grow up to love reading and dinosaurs and Harry Potter. I hope you are kind to others and stick up for those who need it. I hope you never feel alone or isolated. I hope you find things in life that bring you joy. I hope you always have time for your mummy…

I can’t even begin to tell you how much you mean to me, but I can’t wait for the years and years of memories we’re going to make together as a family. I love you more than you’ll ever know.
