1st Birthday Planning | AD [Gifted]

It baffles me that I’m even writing this post, how am I already planning my baby boy’s first birthday party?! I’d been wanting to do a dinosaur theme for a while but didn’t fully research where I was going to get everything from – thankfully I discovered Sparkles Giftwear on Instagram. They specialise in themed hampers and gifts that can be created for any theme – from the roaring 20’s to Peppa Pig! We received an early years dinosaur package and it is honestly amazing – being able to get so many items in one place is a god send and to top it off they have wonderful customer service too. So, now I have the items, I need to figure out the logistics…

Invites

When: We sent our invites out about a month before George’s party. I put on the invitations that RSVP could be through social media so that would save time on waiting for replies through the post.

When we received these gorgeous invites in the parcel, I knew that I needed to go for the old fashioned approach and actually send these out – side note: stamps are super expensive now! I’m a big fan of anything handwritten and enjoyed taking the time to fill out the details on each invitation.

Cake

When: The day/night before but I’ve been saving ideas to Pinterest for months.

Now, I’m willing to bet a large some of money that this cake is going to be a disaster but I really wanted to have a go at making it myself. I’ve got all the tools (I think) but I still need to grab the ingredients and actually bake and decorate it.

Food

When: The day/night before.

Catering for a decent number of people is a bit daunting, especially as you have to consider different dietary requirements but I’m glad that we have the party wear sorted to serve the food and drink. The dinosaur plates are definitely my favourite, I really love the unique shape of them. We’ve also got napkins and paper cups to keep the theme going. In my head I’ve got an idea of some generally healthy buffet food for everyone, and then delicious cake – I don’t want anything too unhealthy as there’s going to be little ones there. I’ve saves some great pins for ideas on how to make party food a little bit more interesting so I’m hoping to try some of those ideas out.

Decorations & Extras

What party is complete without balloons, right? As well as this we got some dinosaur confetti, dino footprint floor stickers, party bags and a big ‘happy birthday’ garland. I’m so excited to get all of this stuff set up for people to enjoy. It’s going to be a super busy weekend but I hope it’s worth it.

Have I missed anything obvious from our party planning list? What do you love most about planning a party for your little ones? Leave a comment and let me know.

*I was sent the Early Years Dinosaur Package from Sparkles Giftwear in return for this blog post, however all views and opinions are my own.
