7 whole months of being a mum and I still don’t know what I’m doing half the time – does this ever get any easier?! It’s been a month full of changes so sit back and relax. If you need to catch up on our last update then click here.
So as you know, we’ve started weaning George and over the past month I’ve tried to get more finger foods in to his meals to varying degrees of success! Blueberry pancakes and yoghurt, oaty fingers, pieces of fruit and veg – it’s been very messy! He’s definitely getting a lot better with his hand eye coordination and is pretty confident with his sippy cup so it’s definitely on the right track. He does have purées too as I’m doing a mixture of spoon-led and baby-led weaning. I’m planning to do a whole post on our weaning journey to do with the method we use, our favourite products and things we found not so helpful; keep an eye out for that!
My little man has had his first proper cold which is horrible for him. It’s so difficult to see your baby so poorly when they don’t understand it. A very snotty nose, a chesty cough and a few restless nights later and *touch wood* it seems to be over. We found that some Vicks Baby Rub and the ASDA Little Angels Vapour Bath before bed did him wonders for settling in the evenings. Do you have any go-to remedies or tricks for when your little one is sick?
Although he’s still a little wobbly, George has been practising his sitting up! He’ll go for a good amount of time before a flop over and generally that’ll be because he’s tilted his head too far or he’s reaching for something too far away. Once he’s conquered this I reckon crawling will be next, when he’s on his tummy his legs are going like crazy and he definitely wants to be on the move.
As well as general mum duties I’ve also been doing a lot of packing as we’re moving house! We wanted to have somewhere with a garden, especially through the summer, so that George can enjoy a splash in a paddling pool or a chill out on the grass. George has definitely been going through a stage of separation anxiety and so it’s not been the easiest of jobs and I’ve had to do a lot of it while he naps but we’re nearly there! I can’t wait for there to be more space for him to play in and a generally nicer area for him to grow up.
That’s what we’ve been up to for the past month. How about you? Let me know what you’ve done by leaving a comment.
It’s been a long couple of months which is why the blog has suffered a bit but I’m hoping once we’re settled into our new home, things will become a bit easier and I’ll get a chance to write more. Wish me luck!
