Mother’s Day, my very first one! I’d been excited about this for weeks but really it’s just another day of the week for us parents isn’t it?
Now don’t get me wrong, I had a lovely day with my boy but I think I had built it up in my head that it was going to be this grand event! Also, who’s evil plan was it to put the clocks forward that day?! The fact that we went out for breakfast made it a lot easier.
I got a beautiful necklace with George’s name on it and a lovely card too. He also decided to give me a surprise present of what can only be described as a poo-nami. TMI but it was everywhere – his legs, back, even his arms were smothered and it stank!
After the clean up operation, we went out for lunch with Charlie’s mum. I tried to feed George in the restaurant but he just kept screaming so I ended up feeding him on my own in the car. Luckily I didn’t order a starter otherwise it would have been cold! This did make me quite sad, but at the same time I didn’t want anyone else to feed him – why do I do this to myself?
I had a lovely day but I think the whole label of “Mother’s Day” just put some super high expectations in my head – as if it was going to be Christmas just for mums! At the end of it all, I still have my beautiful boy and I’m very grateful for all he gives me. How did you spend Mother’s Day?
