When we found out we were pregnant, I couldn’t stop thinking about what I wanted to call my little bundle of joy and right up until I went into labour it was a topic of constant discussion between me and my partner. After seeing SJ Strum’s video on YouTube, I thought I would take the questions she came up with and answer them on my blog! 👶
Q1: If you had a baby tomorrow, what would you call them? (Boy & Girl)
A: For a boy it would have to be Max, it was always a name I loved when I was pregnant with George but Charlie hated it so it got put straight in the ‘no’ pile. If I were to have a girl it would be Harper; this was one that Charlie actually suggested before we found out we were having a baby boy and the more I heard it the more it grew on me.
Q2: What would you rename yourself keeping your first initial?
A: April or Alma – I don’t know anybody with either of these names so it would be nice to have something a bit more unique.
Q3: What would you have been/wish you had been called if you were the opposite gender?
A: So, I actually had to text my mum and ask her this as I didn’t know! But she told me that she really liked the name Cameron when she was pregnant with me.
Q4: Favourite vintage baby name? (Boy & Girl)
A: Theodore for a boy and Evelyn for a girl. I love these as names but also the shortened versions (Theo/Teddy & Evie) that could go along with them so that it would suit any age.
Q5: Favourite nature inspired baby name? (Boy & Girl)
A: I really like flower names for little girls so I would have to say Lily. A boys name was much harder to choose but I think I would go for Sterling.
Q6: Favourite Youtuber’s name and/or baby name?
A: Charlotte Louise Taylor has chosen beautiful names for her children – Bill (William), Daisy and Stanley. She also did her own video on this baby name tag too which is how I found out about it. I just adore the combination of these three names together.
Q7: Favourite literary inspired baby name? (Boy & Girl)
A: For a boy it would be Atticus inspired by Atticus Finch from ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ and for a girl it would be Alice as in ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
Q8: Favourite O name that isn’t Oliver or Olivia?
A: Oscar & Ophelia – Oscar was on my list when we found out we were having a boy but it got shot down. As well as floral names, I really like things that are a little bit unconventional for girls, something you won’t get multiples of when they go to school, which is why I love Ophelia.
Q9: What did you wish you were called when you were younger?
A: I could not tell you why but I always wanted to be called Natalie when I was a little girl. That’s the name I would give myself whenever I was playing pretend.
Q10: What name would you/did you immediately VETO?
A: I should have been more prepared to answer this question but I honestly can’t remember we went through so many! I know Charlie suggested a few that I didn’t like but who knows what they were now. I generally like traditional English names for boys, but I’m not a fan of ‘Peter’ so that’s one I would VETO.
So, that’s it! I hope you enjoyed something a little bit different than the other posts I have up at the moment. I’m going to try and find some more fun things to put up on my blog but if you have any suggestions then let me know. Feel free to get involved too by leaving your answers in the comments or send me a link to your blog so I can check it out.
